Johnson County will need to look into the possibility of relocating their emergency siren at the justice center, now that the new courtroomk facility is being added onto the existing building.
County Emergency Management Coordinator marilyn Connelly brought the possibility to the county commissioners last week, and explained the problem.
Another issue with the siren, she said, was the weekly test, which is performed at noon on Wednesdays, and creating a very loud nuisance for the workers constructing the courtroom facility. She suggested moving the weekly test to Saturdays at noon to accommodate the workers on the site.
Commissioner Smokey Wildeman agreed with moving the weekly test to Saturdays, but permanently, to not interfere with future jury trials during the week.
No formal decision was made on either suggestion, but Connelly will look into both and report back to the commission for a decision.
