Johnson County Planner Rob Yingling and County Planning Commission Chair Margaret Smith-Braniff presented their draft zoning and mapping document to the county commissioners for their approval at Tuesday's meeting.
This document is the final draft before it is presented at upcoming public workshops.
Smith-Braniff explained to the commission what the board hopes to get from these workshops.
Smith-Braniff told the commissioners that the board has concentrated on zoning issues, not specifics like building regulations or other regulations that should fall under the jurisdiction of the comissioners themselves.
The workshops, she said, should be informational but not public comment periods on whether zoning should or should not be implemented. The board would also like to see the workshops hosted by a nuetral party that will keep the discussions moving.
The public workshops will be scheduled in September and October.
