32-year-old Sheridan resident Jennifer Edwards changed her plea to “Guilty” in 4th Judicial District Court Tuesday morning on one Felony Count of Child Endangerment. Per a plea agreement with the State, Edwards may face 2 to 4 years incarceration in the women's penitentiary, suspended, with four years supervised probation. Also, if the pre-sentence investigation indicates the need for any kind of treatment, the judge may instruct her to follow those recommendations. This is if the Court accepts the terms of the plea agreement.
Edwards had been accused of knowingly and willfully allowing her young son to be in the same house where methamphetemine was being used and stored. The dates this took place were January 13th through the 15th of this year. Initially pleading “Not Guilty” at her arraignment, Edwards was scheduled to have a trial on August 25th.
Now that she has changed her plea, sentencing has been scheduled for September 21, 2010 at 11:30 a.m.
