Johnson County School District No. 1 will host a public meeting for comments, questions and suggestions relating to the old Clear Creek School Building just west of the Johnson County Courthouse.
The meeting will be Tuesday, January 10th at 5:30 pm in the school's gymnasium. School Superintendent Dr. Rod Kessler explains what the meeting will cover.
The school district has a process to follow in decommissioning the building, and the City has first right of refusal should the district choose to not use the building as an educational facility, according to Kessler.
Should the City decide against purchasing the facility, it would then go to a normal bid process for those still interested.
Sheridan College, the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Horns, as well as a number of as-yet-named entities have all shown interest in the building, Kessler said; in fact, the school district still may have a use for the building, although no formal decisions have been made yet.
The school district will occupy the new Cloud Peak Elementary in the fall of 2013, so the district will still be using the Clear Creek Elementary building for at least another year, if not longer, Kessler said.
