At their meeting Tuesday night, the Johnson County School District 1 Board of Trustees approved a recommended date and time for a workshop with city officials to discuss options for the old Clear Creek School Building.
The city has first right of refusal on the building, should the school district decide to remove the building from their inventory, which appears likely.
The city has shown at least some interest in looking into the idea of using the building, although through a joint powers board with the county for for the community's benefit.
Some ideas for the building include use by the Boys' and Girls' Club, Sheridan College in Johnson County, as a business incubator, and as a community center for the arts, or any number of combinations of these and other ideas.
The school district is also considering future public meetings for input from the community on the fate of the old school building.
