During their last meeting the Johnson County Healthcare Center's Board of Trustees were presented with the financial report for December of 2012.
According to Hospital Administrator Sandy ward, the facility is ahead of projections for FY 2013, starting out in reasonably good shape from November to December, up $41,000 in gross patient revenue.
Expenses show positive variances in salary and wages, he said, and the employee health insurance account is doing well.
Some negative variances were seen in supplies and drug expenses but all-in-all, they are $35,000 ahead of projected operating loss and $32,000 bottom-line.
In-patient volume in the hospital was up and care center volume is up over 2012 numbers. Surgical procedures are also up but outpatient stats are down. Diagnostics and lab visits are down and overall outpatient visits are down.
Numbers in the clinic are also down as well.
“It's been kind of a mixed bag,” he said, “but so far I've been pretty happy with the way things have gone. Right now we're on track to be several thousand dollars ahead on an operating loss/bottom line basis compared to the original budget.”
