The former Johnson County Co-op in Buffalo closed earlier this year but has since reopened as the Big Horn Co-op. Aaron Palmer brings us the story.
The old co-op, Worman said, was having financial difficulties and closed the doors in June of this year. Bighorn Co-op, based in Greybull, decided to purchase the building, land and remaining inventory. Worman said they have a lot of the same inventory as the old store.
The store isn't offering fuel at the pumps just yet, as some testing of tanks will need to be completed. They are offering bulk fuel now, and will add more as they can. They are also going to re-open the lube, service and tire bay in the store. Worman said re-establishing the rental program will also be a priority, and they will be rebuilding the fertilizer plant.
Worman explained why the Bighorn Co-op decided to purchase the Johnson County Co-op.
The sixth Bighorn Co-op store is located on Highway 16 East in Buffalo and can be reached at the old Johnson County Co-op number 684-9561.
Store hours are Monday through Friday 7 am to 5:30 pm and Saturdays from 7 am to 1 pm.
