Many municipalities throughout Wyoming are facing a budget shortfall for the upcoming fiscal year. The City of Sheridan is in the midst of trying to come up with ways to close the $1.6 million shortfall that's been projected.
With the State of Wyoming having one of the biggest “rainy day” funds in the country, the question continues to be asked: "why doesn't the State use some of those funds to help struggling communities in Wyoming?"
State Representative Rosie Berger was a guest on KROE's Public Pulse program Monday, where she said the issue continues to be addressed by legislators.
Berger, who is the co-chair of the Joint Appropriations Committee, pointed out that in order to keep that “rainy day” account, the State itself had to make a large number of cuts to their budget as well.
