Over 600 people got involved with the recent Pink Link campaign to raise funding for digital mammography equipment at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. The Hospital Foundation set a goal of $250,000 for the campaign. Thanks to one local donor, they are well on their way.
The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation received a $100,000 gift from the Whedon Cancer Detection Foundation for the project. That one donation represents 40% of the overall goal for the project. Combined with other donations the Foundation has nearly $165,000 in gifts to date.
Foundation Director Ada Kirven says the donation gives their campaign an enormous boost and leaves only $85,000 left for them to reach their goal.
The digital mammography equipment will not only streamline the mammography process but also make manipulating the images easier. This process could lead to the discovery of hard to see cancers earlier.
