The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees took no action Wednesday on awarding the bid for the new Welch Cancer Center project.
Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty explains that there needs to be more discussion on the bid that was submitted.
McCafferty stated that the Board will most likely have a special meeting within the next week to further discuss the Cancer Center bid.
Also from Wednesday's meeting, Hospital Foundation Executive Director Ada Kirven announced that they've secured gifts and pledges totaling $2,460,000 for the Cancer Center project.
The Foundation's goal is to raise $4 million to support a portion of the proposed $8.2 million cost of the project.
McCafferty said that the Hospital Foundation will now enter into a public capital campaign in an effort to raise the remaining $1.6 million to meet that goal.
