A joint work session of the Sheridan City Council and Sheridan County Commissioners was held in Council Chambers Wednesday regarding the Goose Creek Flood Notification Network Plan. The City hired States West Water Resources Corporation to develop an updated flood plan for Goose Creek that encompasses Sheridan and Sheridan County. States West Project Manager Chris Knodel explains what this newly developed plan will accomplish.
Knodel says that it wouldn't be just the City and County involved in adopting the plan.
While the Memorandum of Understanding between the City and County has yet to be approved, Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey directed Knodel to take the necessary steps to keep things moving forward.
Knodel indicated that the cost to implement the plan would be broken down into two phases for budgetary reasons. The capital cost of both phases combined will be $52,000, while operating and maintenance will be almost $4,000 annually. Hopes are to have the plan in place later his fall to be ready for next year's peak flood season in the spring.
