Saturday was Sheridan's chance to have a mall for one day a year. P.E.O. or Philanthropic Educational Organization sponsored the “Get Out and Shop” Showcase Sale to help raise money for womens' education. Organizer Wendy Gale explains.
The sale was held in the Sheridan High School gym with fifty-four vendors showcasing their products. Vendors included downtown merchants, home-based and direct sales companies, all offering great deals. The booth rental went back to P.E.O.
Michele Halseide operates “Roosters” on the boardwalk near Albertsons and says the “Get Out and Shop” event offers great exposure for business owners.
Carolyn Griffith helped man a table of home-made baked items with all proceeds going back to P.E.O. She says it's all about women helping women.
There are five P.E.O chapters in Sheridan and one in Buffalo.
