The Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum in Buffalo has traditionally closed during the Winter months because of lower numbers of visitors and to give employees a chance to complete needed maintenance, change exhibits and perform other tasks.
This year the museum will change that tradition and remain open through the winter months.
Museum Director John Gavin said the move to stay open year-round has been in the plans for a number of years.
The museum, during the “off season” winter months will be open from 9 to 4 Monday through Friday and during “tourist season” from Memorial Day through Labor Day from 9 to 6 Monday through Saturday and Sundays noon to 6.
Gavin said the museum will stay open year-round except for major holidays but will need to completely close down during the renovation of the book store. That isn't expected to happen for a couple of years, he said.
