Residents and nonresidents alike, took to the waters Saturday for a free day of fishing. It’s a day set aside where fishermen of any age can cast their line in Wyoming’s waters without a license except in Yellowstone Park or the Wind River Indian Reservation.
It was a perfect day for fishing at the Kleenburn Recreation Area.
Balmy weather, birds singing, the shores were dotted with folks trying their luck at catching the big one.
Orvella Charlesworth of Gillette spent the day there with her boyfriend’s three boys.
Garth Moline of Sheridan was there with his friends wanting to enjoy some fun in the sun.
Tangled lines, bobbers stuck in trees, and underwater snags, Aaron and Tara Cruz from Colorado Springs were there with their 2 year-old daughter Arianna. Dad says fishing with a toddler presents its own set of difficulties.
In 2003, the Wyoming state legislature designated the annual free fishing day as part of National Fishing and Boating Week.
