Funeral services for former Buffalo Police Chief Terry Barnhart were held Tuesday afternoon at the Big Horn Baptist Church in Buffalo.
Barnhart passed away suddenly last Friday at the Johnson County Healthcare Center. The church was full as friends, family and members of the community packed themselves into the building to pay their respects. Vehicles lined both sides of Fort Street leading up to the church.
Interment was in Willow Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites, and a huge number of law enforcement vehicles escorted the procession to the outdoor services.
Barnhart joined the Iowa Falls, Iowa Police Department and began a notable career of more than 40 years in law enforcement.
He became Buffalo's Chief of Police in 1983 and retired in 1999. For a full Obituary, click on the link at the top of this page.
