The first of many “Sheridan Art Hops” was held at the Sheridan Parks and Recreation Center south of Sheridan on Saturday. Called the “Our Community Art Show and Sale,” Skye Evers, coordinator for the event tells us what it’s all about.
An art show, not a craft fair, 25 artists showcased their work, renting tables for $30 each. Funds raised went to provide three scholarships for new, aspiring artists in the Sheridan area, giving them the opportunity to participate in the 2011 season of the Story Art Station to show and sell their work and learn about working in a gallery.
Hundreds toured the art show in the old Woodland Park School and the “art hop” allows artists to promote their art at an affordable rate.
12-year-old Lauren Sarantopulos was there sharing her large pieces of pop art.
The Sheridan Parks and Recreation Center provided food for the art show and proceeds from those sales will go to purchase more cardio equipment for their gym.
