Two energy companies are at odds over plans to pump carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide underground in western Wyoming.
The dispute between Cimarex Energy and Exxon Mobil is scheduled to go before the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission on Tuesday.
Cimarex Energy says it's half-finished with building a
methane-and-helium plant outside Big Piney. Cimarex is seeking
state permission to reinject hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide gas from the plant back underground at the site.
The reinjection well is about two miles from a gas well for an
Exxon Mobil gas plant. Exxon Mobil says the reinjection will put more waste gas into that well.
Cimarex says Exxon Mobil's operations are causing gas to flow
away from the Cimarex plant.
