Victims of abuse are sometimes unlikely to report the wrongs they suffer, and this is especially true of senior citizens. Paul Greenwood, a nationally renowned activist for senior citizen abuse awareness, said friends and family members need to be on the lookout for signs of financial or physical abuse. He said abusers often try to make their victims socially isolated.
Greenwood said there are other preliminary signs of abuse in elderly citizens.
Greenwood said caretakers for elderly citizens should be referred by reputable care facilities or friends. He said placing classified ads for caretakers often attracts the wrong type of person.
