Republican Wyoming U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi was part of a group of Senate and House Republicans that held a press conference this week to support putting a stop to ongoing deficit spending and what they called “budget gimmicks”.
Enzi's congratulations was to the House of Representatives, calling out the Senate for not passing a budget now for 1,000 days. The conference called for honesty in budgeting, claiming that the Senate has enabled more than $420 billion additional deficit spending since 2005, including $73 billion this fiscal year.
The press conference followed the presentation of the Honest Budget Act. If passed, it aims to put a stop to budget tricks that hide deficit spending and the actual cost of government programs.
Enzi graduated from George Washington University with a degree in accounting in 1966. He serves on the Senate Budget and Senate Finance committees.
