Empower Wyoming will be presenting a women's self-defense workshop this Tuesday in Buffalo.
Self-defense is not just about physical fighting, but giving women skills to avoid ending up in situations where their lives or safety is in danger, according to Francine Russell, Director of Empower Wyoming.
She tells us more about the workshop.
Russell said the first rule of self-defense she teaches women is to not be there. Not to put themselves in a dangerous situation, and to use common sense. Women have a good gut instinct, she said, but sometimes don't always listen to themselves. Verbal skills, teaching women how to set boundaries and say no is also part of the workshop. Physical fighting is a last resort but the women are also taught to defend themselves.
The workshop will be at the Hampton Inn in Buffalo Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 and there are still some spots available. The cost is $35 per person and those interested can sign up by calling 620-1511.
