Every year for three days the Fairgrounds lay host to the Elk's Youth Rodeo. This Elk's Youth Rodeo is one of the most competitive in the country, youth come to Sheridan to compete from all over the mid-west.
Bob Strauser of Sheridan helped start the youth rodeo back in 1993 to give the kids tougher competition. He and around eighty volunteers help run the games. There are games for pee-wee, intermediates, juniors and seniors. There are also over $50,000 in scholarships and other goods for the youth to win.
Strauser explains some of the prizes.
Strauser also added that it is free for a whole family to watch the rodeo. You can find it in action up at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds every August.
