Friday was the deadline for candidates to file for the primary election this August. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has the story.
While there weren't any major surprises during this year's filing period, there are a few moves that are worth mentioning. Sheridan resident John Self filed as one of seven Republican candidates for Governor. Five Democratic candidates also filed for the position.
There are eight candidates who filed for the three available seats on the Sheridan County Commission, six Republican, and two Democrats. Longtime State Representative Jack Landon's decision not to run opened up the door for several candidates vying for his seat, Steve Cox, R.G. Kekich, Daniel Blake, and John Botten, all Republican, have filed for the position. Sheridan County Election Supervisor Brenda Miech says things were pretty much the norm this year at the Courthouse.
The Primary Election this year will be August 17, with the General Election to held November 2nd. Miech said that absentee balloting for the Primary Election will begin July 8th and continue through August 17th. Click here to see who filed.
