The State proficiency test known as PAWS has been mired in controversy since its inception several years ago. Sheridan County School District One Superintendent Sue Belish says that while not a huge proponent of the test, she feels that an abrupt change would not be a good idea at this time.
Belish said that under “No Child Left Behind,” PAWS is better than many other state tests that are given. She thinks that the test, or something very similar, will be around for the next couple of years.
