The Sheridan County Planning and Zoning Commission once again denied a request from Toby and Marie Johnson to subdivide 25.5 acres of property into an 11 lot subdivision. The property is located off of Highway 335 near Big Horn. The preliminary plat was originally denied by the Commission on May 5th. Commissioner Phil Zerwas voted against it both times; he explains the reason for doing so.
Commissioner Jeremy Smith was in support of the Longhorn Subdivision preliminary plat, both on May 5th, and Wednesday night.
The Planning Commission did approve the Clearmont Fire District's request for a Conditional Use Permit to build a fire hall on 5 acres of land off of State Highway 336. The request for a CUP was made because the Sheridan County Zoning Resolution states that fire stations are not a permitted use in any zoning district.
The Clearmont Fire District plans to build a second fire hall outside of the Town of Clearmont to better serve areas within the Fire District. The County Commissioners approved the CUP request at a special meeting Thursday morning.
