At Tuesday's meeting, the Johnson County Commissioners approved a request from Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer to award the engineering contract for the Canal Road Bridge to WWC Engineering of Sheridan.
Pehringer said the bridge project has been on the radar for a while, but had to wait for his department to get the necessary funding. Now that he has funding, he wants to proceed with the project.
Pehringer explains further.
The amount of the contracted engineering services is $54,940 which is for professional services only, Pehringer said. The cost of the bridge itself will run about $50,000 for a modular-style bridge that will be installed on specially-designed abuttments, he said.
The Commissioners approved the contract for WWC Engineering to perform engineering services on the bridge project.
