During a quick Sheridan County Commission meeting Tuesday morning, the lion's share of the time was spent approving appointments and re-appointments to several boards and commissions.
New appointments made include: Linda Bentzen to a three-year term on the Sheridan County Library Board of Trustees, from July, 2011 to July, 2014; and Kevin Bailey to a five-year term on the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Board from July, 2011 to July 2016.
Re-appointments are as follows: Stan Peddicord to a four-year term on the Sheridan County Fair Board from July, 2011 to July, 2016; Bill Biastoch as Fire Warden and Fritz Bates as Assistant Fire Warden to four-year terms on the Sheridan County Fire Board, from July, 2011 to July, 2015; Gary Miller to a five-year term on the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Board from July, 2011 to June, 2016; and Jeremy Smith to a three-year term on the Sheridan County Planning and Zoning Commission, from July, 2011 to July 2014.
In attendance at Tuesday's meeting was Smith, whose full-time work hat is as Business Manager for Sheridan County School District 1. He tells us why he wanted to sign on for another three-year term.
Commenting on Smith's request to serve a second term, Commissioner Bob Rolston said during the meeting.
Also from the meeting, the commissioners approved a permit request for Senator Bruce Burns' supervised public display of fireworks on July 4th at the Equestrian Center; they renewed an agreement for Inmate Health Care Services at the Sheridan County Detention Center; and they approved a Budget Appropriation Amendment Resolution, for which we will have a detailed story tomorrow.
Finally, Commission Chair Tom Ringley announced that June 27th is the final date the Commission will accept written public comments on the proposed Dayton Northwest Rezone, with a public hearing scheduled for July 5th.
And the Commission advertised for the position of County Health Officer, with the application closing date of July 8th.
