Every summer in Sheridan you’ll find the Sheridan WYO Rodeo, Buffalo Bill Days, and Concerts in the Park. The tradition of live music in Kendrick Park is decades old. In fact, the Tuesday Concerts in the Park series originally featured the Sheridan Community Concert Band each week throughout the summer back in the 1960’s. Don Cherni is one of the Community Band directors and he explains where they find band members:
What does it take to put together one of these concerts? About four hours… Musicians receive the music selections ahead of time but the entire group has very limited rehearsal time:
Cherni will direct the first performance of the band this season. The first of two rehearsals will be held this Monday, July 6th at the Sheridan Junior High Auditorium. The Community Band will kick off this summer’s concert series on Tuesday, July 14th at the band shell in Kendrick Park.
