During their short meeting last Tuesday, the Johnson County Commissioners approved a use agreement with the Buffalo Lion's Club to use the Mikesell/Potts Recreation Area at Lake DeSmet for their annual fishing derby.
The Mikesell/Potts Recreation Area is maintained and operated by Johnson County, and the Lion's Club has used the area for their derby for nearly 30 years.
This year's derby will run from Friday, May 26th to Monday, May 28th and will give anglers the opportunity to not only enjoy some great fishing and camping, but the chance to win cash and other prizes by catching a tagged fish or winning a prize by weight, size and type of fish caught.
Raffles for other prizes including the grand prize, which which has traditionally been four-wheel ATV's, will also be offered.
