The City of Sheridan and the Sheridan Area Water Supply received some good news out of Cheyenne Thursday as the State Loan and Investment Board approved almost $6 million in grants and long-term low interest loans for the Big Goose and Sheridan Water Treatment Plants.
Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey was in Cheyenne for the meeting and provided these comments about the approval.
The City didn't receive as good news concerning Phase Two and Three of the Wyoming Avenue Park Street project; the SLIB Board did not approve $5.9 million in loan and grant requests.
The SLIB Board also approved a $156,465 green demonstration project for porous concrete at the Mavrakis Pond parking area.
City Public Works Director Nic Bateson said that the project will help reduce sediment runoff into Mavrakis Pond and ultimately the Goose Creek projects.
Bateson added that this will be a good opportunity to see how this new green technology of porous concrete functions under Wyoming weather.
