A change of plea hearing was held Tuesday in 4th Judicial District Court in Sheridan for 69-year-old Melvin Krenzelok. The guilty plea that Krenzelok entered was part of a plea agreement with the State which would dismiss three misdemeanors against him in exchange for his guilty plea on the felony charge of Third Degree Sexual Assault.
Krenzelok was charged with the felony sexual assault charge for an incident that occurred on January 14th, 2010, at Sheridan Manor. An employee of the nursing home witnessed Krenzelok inappropriately touching an 87-year-old woman with dementia that was residing at the nursing home. The three misdemeanor charges against Krenzelok stem from a number of incidents with various elderly women at Heritage Towers, where Krenzelok was employed as a custodian before being terminated in March of 2008 due to complaints of inappropriate conduct.
District Court Judge John Fenn reminded Krenzelok that the Court is by no means bound by the terms of the plea agreement and that by pleading guilty to the charge of Third Degree Sexual Assault he would become a a registered sex offender. Krenzelok will be sentenced May 24th, at 9:30 am.
19-year-old Shawn Gilkey also changed his plea in District Court Tuesday. Gilkey plead guilty to three counts of burglary as part of a plea agreement with the State. Last year in September, Gilkey and 32-year-old Dustin Yearout were involved in a string of cabin burglaries in the Big Horn Mountains near Burgess Junction. Gilkey will be sentenced on May 26th, at 9 am.
18-year-old Patrick Mayfield plead guilty to one count of Felony Larceny, and one count of Felony Burglary. In September of 2010, Mayfield broke into a vehicle in Sheridan and stole several items. He also stole a 1999 GMC Yukon that same night and led law enforcement on a high speed chase through Sheridan County. Mayfield will be sentenced on May 24th at 9:30 am.
