A rapidly spreading wildfire has burned at least one structure and forced the evacuation of up to 400 people on Casper Mountain.
Authorities say as many as five structures have burned so far in the path of the Sheep Herder Hill Fire about 10 miles southeast of the Casper city limits.
The fire began Sunday afternoon and winds quickly fanned the blaze to more than seven square miles. About 150 structures, including homes, remain evacuated Monday on the east side of Casper Mountain.
Nine evacuated families are staying at the Parkway Plaza Hotel in Casper. The Red Cross says it is considering opening a shelter for evacuees.
Red Cross officials say evacuee numbers are difficult to estimate because of the large number of seasonal cabins.
