The season of giving was apparently good to the Salvation Army in Buffalo, as far as volunteer numbers and donations are concerned, according to Carol Jennings, of the local Salvation Army.
Jennings is with the Johnson County Crisis Center, and said the local effort, although not an “official” Salvation Army outpost, is a local bell-ringing extension that raises money to help those in need, especially Johnson County residents.
She said this year was very good for donations.
Jennings said in 2009 donations were very high, due to a large individual donation, and in 2010 they were down the difference of that donation. Donations were back up again this year, although no large individual donation was received, so 2011 did see an increase in donations.
Jennings explains what the money raised is used for.
