Buffalo Police Chief Jason Carder gave a report to the city council at last week's meeting that included 678 incidents that occurred in the city in February, including two suicide attempts and four sexual assaults on minors.
Those on the council were upset and concerned with the report, and councilman Bill Hawley asked that the council get involved, somehow, to do something to end these types of incidents, although no one knew exactly what to do.
In a later interview, Chief Carder said arrests have been made in the four assaults. He said these were not isolated incidents and occur regularly in Buffalo.
Carder said citizens getting involved with groups like the Community Resource Center or others and getting educated to what is going on and how they can help is the best way to deal with the problem.
Hawley gave ideas on how people can help.
