The Buffalo/Johnson County Joint Engineer position will be offered to Wayne Hill of Virginia, after both the city council and county commission approved the recommendation of the interview committee at their meetings Tuesday.
Three candidates were interviewed in the process, according to City Planner Zach Montgomery, who sai each of the candidates had strong resumes and broad experience in the field, but Hill was the choice of the interview committee.
Hill is familiar with the area because he worked in Sheridan in the recent past, Montgomery said, and is wanting to relocate to the area.
The next step in the hiring process is to enter into negotiations with Hill to agree on salary and other issues, Montgomery said.
The salary range for the position is between $55,000 and $85,000.
The engineer will be a city employee and the costs involved with the position will be split between the city and county under their agreement.
