At their meeting Tuesday evening, Buffalo's City Council awarded the bid for engineering of the high-pressure water supply line to the city's schools to Nelson Engineering of Buffalo.
City Public Works Director Les Hook gave a report on the various bids, which ranged from Nelson's low bid of $16,310 up to a high bid of $70,433.
Hook recommended Nelson Engineering's bid for design, or engineering services.
He explains the wide discrepancy in the bids.
Hook said Nelson Engineering will also be the engineer of record and will oversee the construction of the water supply line.
Hook wants that aspect in a seperate contract with nelson Engineering to be sure they fully understand the scope of the work and what he expects of them during the project.
The construction phase will bid out to a contractor at a later date.
