The Buffalo City Council approved a grant application request from Planner Zach Montgomery at their meeting Tuesday, but not before some discussion on related issues.
Resolution #1323 authorized a grant application for a Wyoming Business Council Community Block Grant Planning Grant, and Montgomery explains what it will be used for.
The Clear Creek School will revert back to the city once the school district vacates the building, and the plan is to renovate and find use for the building. Some suggested uses are for the Boys' and Girls' Club and for Sheridan College in Johnson County, which will give them plenty of room for future expansion.
Councilman Bruce Hepp suggested using the Wyoming School Facilities Commission's findings from their study completed a few years ago on the building, and implement those into the planning process for the grant application, and the council agreed.
The city and county will be jointly going after these grants and will split the matching funds for the grants should they be awarded to them.
The Johnson County Commissioners approved the application earlier in the day, and the city council approved Resolution #1323 on a 3-1 vote with Councilman Russ Humphrey voting against the application.
