At last week's city council meeting, City Works Director Les Hook requested the council approve him bidding out for landscaping to be completed at the city's new wastewater treatment plant.
Hook said in the original project there was no plan for landscaping, but it was eventually decided it was needed and the bids at that time were rather expensive.
He explains further.
The landscaping will be done around the aeriation basins as well as the solids storage basins, and according to Hook, it will solve some immediate weather-related problems with the facility. Landscaping around the remainder of the facility will be handled by city crews at a later date, he said.
Funding for the landscaping project will come from unused loan money from the original construction project, Hook said. The council voted to allow Hook to put the project out to bid.
