The latest Sheridan City Council budget work session Thursday dealt with budgets for the Police Department, Fire Department, Municipal Court and contracted Prosecuting Attorney for the City, Mia Mikesell. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has more.
Much of the meeting centered around the possibility of the City eliminating the Municipal Court system. Councilor Ryan Mulholland says for now the idea is just that.
In a move to try to cut down costs, the City has sent out a request for proposal to re-bid all of the City's Municipal Court services. Budgets for every department in the City are down for the upcoming fiscal year; however, law enforcement and emergency services will continue to provide the essential services that have become the norm.
The Council will have a short reprieve from the budget work sessions, as the the next scheduled session isn't until Wednesday, June 2nd.
