339 kids from 20 schools from Wyoming and surrounding states will take over Buffalo High School this weekend for the annual BHS Forensics Tournament.
Forensics involves competition in speech, debate, and interpretation events.
Speech events are Oratory and Extemporaneous. Debate events include Public Forum, Lincoln/Douglas, Cross-Examination, and Congressional Debate. And Interpretation events are Poetry, Humor, Drama, and Duet.
BHS Forensics Coach Walter Farwell said the skills these kids learn in Forensics competitions will help them in many aspects throughout their lives.
About 45 high schools in the state offer Forensics competitions throughout the year, according to Farwell, and the BHS team will compete at most of them throughout any given year.
Volunteers help put the BHS competition on every year, and Farwell said most events are covered, but anyone interested in helping can do so by contacting the BHS office at 684-2269 and requesting to speak to a Forensics Coach.
The competion kicks off today at noon and will wrap up about 9pm tonight.
Saturday is a full day again and the competition will conclude around 5pm.
