It was a full house as hundreds packed into the Exhibition Hall at the fairgrounds Saturday night, despite the winter storm that blew in for the “Beat the Winter Blues,” a fundraiser for the Dog and Cat Shelter. The attendance went way beyond what Shelter Director Cel Hope expected or
hoped for.
And a fun night it was, beginning with an all-you-can-eat chili feed followed by a silent and live auction. A family event, the kids had all sorts of activities to enjoy including face painting and a cake walk. Live music was provided by “The Bandanas” and Hope explains “Beat the Winter Blues.”
It was all for a good cause.
Indeed; in an e-mail from Cel sent Monday morning, she indicates that the preliminary count puts the proceeds at $15,000 for the event.
