A new little gal has joined the existing buffalo and elk at the City Elk Pasture in Sheridan. Little Annie was released into the area Wednesday afternoon, and City Parks Manager Chuck Carbert explains how she came to be there.
Kim Love had Annie and Amos, but Annie wasn't allowing anyone near Amos as far as attentive care was concerned, so one of them had to go. As Carbert said, it is a win-win solution, since losing the adult female. He tells us what happened to her.
As for the care of the buffalo and elk on the just over twenty acres, Carbert says.
Annie is still a heifer calf, but with a great male-to-female ratio in the pasture now, hopes are that she'll have a calf of her own by next year.
