This Saturday morning starting at 9 o'clock, the public is invited to take part in the 3rd Annual Alzheimer's Memory Walk. Caregiver Support Facilitator with the Center, Stella Montano, explains.
While there is no specific amount required to take part, Montano says that donations are appreciated. She stresses that while this technically is a fundraiser on a nationwide basis, she feels that for the Sheridan community, awareness of Alzheimer's is most important.
Montano says they provide in-home respite services, where caregivers are given a break by someone from the Senior Center coming into the home to watch the Alzheimer's patient. Or the caregiver can bring their loved one to the Center where the loved one can take part in the Day Break program. Both programs are on a sliding fee or donation scale.
