A time of reconnecting and instilling hope, Saturday, all expectations were met as over 350 friends and family reunited at The Gathering Place, the women’s residential treatment facility of Volunteers of America.
It was all part of this year’s 3rd Annual “Now More than Ever!” Recovery Picnic, hosted by Volunteers of America. Lead Recovery Mentor Shanna Knuckles explains.
All part of celebrating September as National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, the picnic was open to all because everyone, in some way, is affected by substance abuse.
Kelly Carroll, clinical program director for The Gathering Place, says the picnic is also about giving hope.
National Recovery Month is an annual celebration held each September, providing a platform to celebrate people in recovery and those who serve them.
