It used to be a government of "We the People, By the People For the People"
Now it's become a government of "We the Government, By the Government, For the Government.
We don't need term limits all we have to do starting in 2010 is "Vote for the New Guy " and do the same in 2012 and every election after that. Doesn't matter if your democrat, republican or independant, vote for the new guy and get rid of all the career politicans, this is how we can clean out the House Congress and Senate. The words career and politican sould never be used together. It's time America sends a strong message to the government that this is our country, not theirs!!
Also, get a list of everyone who voted for that Stimulus bill and make sure you vote them out of office. Not one of them took the time to even read that so called stimulus bill before voting on it and it was loaded with bork barrel waste. If a politican is voting on bills with even reading them first they are NOT workingin the peoples best interest.
I have called my local counsleman ( one of whome is Bigalow) and he never took the time to return my calls. I will remember that this coming election.
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical.. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States."
How 'bout repealing the 17th Amendment? Now that would make them pay a little more attention to the folks back home... The Constitution had it right before it was amended back in 19 - 13? We just keep fixing stuff that isn't broke. YIKES!
wake up and face reality go to common dreams.org and go the the article democracy in america is a useful fiction apathy is alive and doing well everywhere
This is not a new subject! Polticians from way before Wallop and Simpson have been out of touch with the people. They have manipulated the laws to help there buddies in the big business world and have forgotten about those who voted them into office! These two politicians mentioned above did do alot of good for Wyoming but they also did alot of things to help foster there buddies in big business-Take a look at Jackson! Do you think all the fortune 500 CEO call Wyoming home do to the weather? They call it home because they get huge tax breaks voted in during the Wallop Simpson years! They might have always been a friend to Wyoming but they were better friends to BIG BUSINESS! PS> Silverfox you where right on about the constitution being torn apart by politicians AKA crooks! The NEW CROOKS on the Block ENZI-Cuban and Thomas all got there share w/ the CBM being shoved down our throats before we even new what happened to Sheridan and Johnson Counties----Now look at the mess they left us!
Enzi is a prime example of useless and worthless all rolled into one.His performance as mayor of gillette should have prevented any intelligent voter from electing him to higher office, but it didn't.
Enzi gave wyoming a sample of his dictatorship style of governing, when he appointed his own city administrator in gillette after stating that,"gillette's city council won't allow me to do what I want".Why is it no suprise that Enzi's fellow gillette resident Kinskey, immediately tried to appoint his own city administrator also,in an effort to do away with popular vote in city council.
As for term limits, they are necessary if you could get people to vote for the person rather than the party and not vote by name recognition. 'I voted for Joe because his was the only name I recognized'.
They need to go to Washington and do their jobs.If I were cutting the checks for these people I'd fire every dang one of them.
They are not so much about being reelected as helping their rich friends, whom they often work for when they leave office. Just look at Cubin who voted for TARP and against seniors being allowed to get their drugs from Canada, I wonder who she will end up working for? What about our two senators who just voted to re confirm Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke, was that really in the best interest of 99% of the people who pay taxes in this country? Things wont change as long as we continue to vote for these two loser political parties.
If the government were really doing what was important and necessary for the country, then they'd be following the constitution to a T other than trying to break it down and disolve it in every way possible!

I agree with your comment.
Not once have I seen them try to roll back any of the damage they have made to the sovereignty of the constitution. Why dont they back up the bus and start there..
One solution would be term limits, if they can only be there for so long, maybe they could focus on actually doing a job to help the country. Also, limit who and what they can do when they leave office. Can't work for special interest groups, lobby etc...
By doing this they don't have to worry about re-elections. Give the senators 6 years and reps. 4 year terms and they can only serve once.
The current depression that this country is in,is a prime indicator of politicians being interested in their own careers rather then what's best for the country.
hate to burst your bubble, but the recession we are in is far from being a depression
You keep on thinking that, and get back to us in about 4 years.. Just because the nobles have changed the definition doesn't make it fact.. Can you not see they are using a play on words. Do you honestly think unemployment is at 10%, do some travel and sit in a few coffee shops. Trust me there is a world of people outside of Sheridan, I've seen them...
IMO, they work on setting deals on the back end in preperation for the exit of their political career.
