It was definitely a winning combination on Saturday morning when the Northern Wyoming Walleyes Unlimited organization and other volunteers hosted veterans from the Sheridan VA Medical Center Extended Care Unit at Fort Mackenzie for a day on Lake DeSmet. The veterans and boat captains in this group were so anxious to get in the water the second group that was slightly delayed missed getting in the group photo. About 15 volunteers, 18 veterans and 12 boats were involved in the day's outing. Ken Gould, the president of Walleyes Unlimited, said that his group aims for three or more such outings a year: a youth outing in early summer to Tongue River Reservoir, veterans to Lake DeSmet in late summer and again in the winter for ice fishing.
