Timely Patriotic Symbolism

The South Main Street bronze sculpture "Synergy" shown here encircling "Old Glory," proudly flying from a nearby street light pole, provides a timely visual as the 10th anniversary of 9/11 approaches. Sculpture Gary Lee Price, whose trademark is "Lifting the Human Spirit Through Sculpture" created "Synergy" to, " . . . personify the intangible characteristics of teamwork, friendship and unity. The individual strength in each of the six hands is evident. yet each one grips the neighboring hand. This balance and reliance among us is necessary for true strength and progress." These characteristics of teamwork, friendship and unity can be seen several blocks to the north where "The Sheridan Media 9/11 10th Anniversary Spirit of America Remembrance (food) Drive" is taking place at Cost Plus Furniture & Appliances of Sheridan. Then at 7:45 am on Sunday a "silent walk" of firefighters, law enforcement and other emergency responders in a display of teamwork, friendship and unity will lead a procession from Main & Brundage Street to the fire department for a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on Patriot Day. After the ceremony attendees are invited to remain at the fire station and share their stories of September 11th.
