Sheridan's Broadway Center

Posted in

The theater district of Broadway New York and Broadway Center of Sheridan have more in common that what you may first think. Daniel (DannyLee) Hodnett, recently from Los Angeles and now with the Theater Faculty at Sheridan College appeared Tuesday on Public Pulse where he discussed the upcoming play "Helldrivers of Daytona" with Sheridan Media's Mary Jo Johnson. The play will involve 10 local actors between the ages of 18 to 25 and P.J. Griffith who appeared on Broadway in "American Idiot" and is currently in "Giant" at the Dallas Theatre Center. Are you getting this Broadway NY and Broadway Sheridan connection yet? Soon after arriving at Sheridan College, DannyLee started looking for an area in which the College Fine Arts Department could expand. A Whitney Benefits location at 245 Broadway that had recently been given to Sheridan College caught the eye of DannyLee and is now in the process of becoming part of the College's Fine Arts Department. Now back to the play "Helldrivers of Daytona" that is being developed on both coasts and in Sheridan where auditions will soon take place in Sheridan's Broadway Center. With the Broadway Center as the working hub the play will be developed and refined leading up to a two performances scheduled for June 29th and 30th at the WYO Theater. Did I mention the hopeful goal of the play being destined for Broadway New York? Scroll down to see several interior photos of the former Sheridan Creamery building - that now houses in part a growing amount of the Fine Arts Department of Sheridan College. Not part of the Fine Arts Department is this locked area where items belonging to Edward A. Whitney are still stored - perhaps including the "crate of his belongings" that was discovered in 2005 (?) and made news in July of 2011.
