National Nurses Week began May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday - May 12, 1820. At the Sheridan VA Hospital on Fort Mackenzie Monday afternoon three local nurses out of the 77,000 nurses nationwide that care for American's Veterans received National Recognition. Nursing Assistant Elyssa Lassie, in the middle, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Diane Watts, on the left, and Registered Nurse (RN) Kathryn (Kitty-Beth) Barber received Department of Veterans Affairs "Special Contribution Award" recognition certificates. The three received their awards from the Nurse Executive Jane Votaw during an "ice cream and cake social" in the cafeteria. Scroll down to see more including the real cake with real frosting and yes real ice cream - not the low fat stuff. A good time was had by all. Thank you nurses for all you do.
