Midwinter Bald Eagle Count Meeting January 8th

Posted in

Seeing this bald eagle between Big Horn and Sheridan serves as reminder that the 2013 Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey will be conducted on January 12th. A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 8th in the Inner Circle of the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library at 6:00 pm. If there are any survey routes left unclaimed they will be assigned at this meeting. During last year’s survey, 69 volunteers counted 308 eagles throughout the Powder River Basin, including 180 bald eagles. A total of 1,736 eagles have been counted since surveys of the basin began in 2006. For more information on the project, contact the BLM Buffalo field office at 684-1045.
