Memorial Day Events

Beneath the high flying National, State and Armed Forces flags at Sheridan's Municipal Cemetery (formerly Mount Hope Cemetery) are two smaller National flags marking the grave of US Army Paratrooper Pvt. Orval Loren Kock. The cemetery is replete with settings such as this as we remember our veterans on Memorial Day. Memorial Day activities start at 6:00 am with Girl Scouts placing flags on veteran's graves at the cemetery. Then at 10:00 am is a parade from Dow Street to the Courthouse on Main Street. Following the 10:30 am Wreath laying ceremony at the Courthouse is the 11:30 am Post Everlasting Ceremony at the cemetery. After viewing the parade and wreath laying why not drop by the cemetery and see the result of the girl scout involvement and countless others in preparation for Memorial Day.
